This website will be most people's first introduction to the art of paper pulp painting, a process by which the image is constructed using only wet colored paper ; a process in which the paper pulp is sifted out of a vat using a screen, or is squirted out of a squeeze bottle. It is a process in which many thin layers of pulp build up a beautiful and intricate pattern of many colors, which, created spontaneously, weave throughout the composition and attempt to distract the viewer from the pictoriality and space which have been constructed. The end product is thus both illusionistic, being like a painted landscape; and abstract, being a flat surface of fiber textures. The work speaks as both a painting and an object.
