This website will be most people's first encounter with the art of paper pulp painting, a process by which the image is constructed using only handmade paper ; a process in which wet paper pulp is sifted out of a vat using a screen, or is applied with a squeeze bottle. It is a process in which many thin layers of pulp build up a beautiful and intricate pattern of many colors, which weave throughout the composition and attempt to distract the viewer from the pictorality and space which have been constructed. The end product is thus both illusionistic, being like a painted landscape; and abstract, being a flat surface of fiber textures. The work speaks as both a painting and an object.
